Award winning BYRON today becomes the latest exciting addition to Canary Wharf’s restaurant scene.
The hamburger specialist was named the Best Cheap Eat at the Observer Food Monthly Awards 2009 and today opened its doors in Cabot Place East retail mall, leaving Canary Wharf food-lovers salivating over ‘hamburgers the way they should be,’ made with simple toppings and buns freshly baked in an artisan bakery.
Tom Byng, founder of BYRON said:
“We’ve wanted to come to Canary Wharf for a long time and are thrilled to have finally got the chance. It’s a great opportunity for us to bring our ‘proper hamburgers’ to a whole new group of people and a good test for our business. We’re really looking forward to it.”
What makes BYRON special is its obsession with doing a simple thing really well. ‘Proper’ means sourcing the beef from small farms in Scotland; mincing the beef in a secret recipe every day at 5am; using soft, squishy buns from a top baker and, most importantly, cooking the hamburgers medium (i.e. pink in the middle) for maximum taste and juiciness.
Camille Waxer, Vice President of Retail at Canary Wharf Group plc (CWG) said: “Byron is a genuinely exciting addition to the growing Canary Wharf food scene.”
In addition to BYRON, six new bars and restaurants have launched in Canary Wharf to critical acclaim in the last 12 months, creating over 400 jobs. These include Canteen, Jamie’s Italian, ROKA, Rocket, the parlour and Wahaca. Boisdale is set to open in January 2011.
