Jamie's Italian To Open In Canary Wharf In Early August

The fifth of Jamie Oliver’s “neighbourhood” restaurants called ‘Jamie’s Italian’ will open in Churchill Place, Canary Wharf on August 5th. Like the successful Jamie’s Italian restaurants in Oxford, Bath, Kingston and Brighton, the E14 restaurant will offer high quality, authentic Italian food at an affordable price.

Jamie says: “It’s hugely exciting to be in Canary Wharf as it’s such a vibrant, buzzing part of London. Whenever I go down to see how the new restaurant is progressing, there’s always so much going on and I know that the businesses and the people who live in the surrounding area are going to love what we do at Jamie’s Italian. It’s perfect for a quick, affordable but delicious lunch and it’s just as perfect for a dinner with friends.”

‘Jamie’s Italian’, aims to bring Jamie’s books to life and provide fast, urban casual dining, open for lunch and dinner 7 days a week. Pasta dishes are freshly made on site all day and the bread will be baked daily by our artisan bakers, the Flour Station. And before anyone asks, all chicken and eggs will be free-range.

Around 93,000 people work in or visit Canary Wharf every day so it’s one of London’s busiest areas for shopping, working and, of course, eating.

Jamie continues: “After all the years of working with suppliers, growers, farmers and then learning from the British public, I wanted to create a local restaurant that is classy, reliable and inspired by what people want – good tasty food. That’s how Jamie’s Italian came about and the great British public have been voting with their feet and making all our restaurants very successful. We’re very thankful for that.

“When people eat at a ‘Jamie’s Italian’, I want them to really get into the food, maybe try something they wouldn’t normally try, but always be safe in the knowledge that they’re eating good stuff, prepared with love. My mentor, Gennaro Contaldo the “Italian Stallion”, works side by side with me on the menu and the staff training and so it’s all completely authentic, rustic Italian grub.”

‘Jamie’s Italian’ Managing Director Simon Blagden added: “This is food for everyone and it’s convenient. These will be the sort of restaurants that you could just as easily use every week for a casual business lunch or pop in of an evening because you happen to be passing. It’s inclusive, welcoming, affordable and most of all, delicious.
